Line Handler

We have an opportunity within our Marine team for a Line Handler reporting to the Marine Superintendent (Tug Master). This role focuses the provision of safe and efficient mooring and sailing operations from Port Nelson. The role is permanent part-time (PPT), 24 hours on call, even time roster. While rostered on you will attend all shipping movements ordered during that period.
To be considered you will have:
- a strong marine background and be physically fit
- full availability – providing on-call cover for all shipping movements over a 24 hour period
- an ability to work effectively as a team member with a high degree of reliability and punctuality
- a true passion and commitment to safety and not afraid to speak up!
- practical skills to operate machinery with confidence including forklift certification
- marine qualifications required - SRL endorsed to 24m to provide relief cover on Tugs and Pilot Launches
The work can be physically demanding so a high degree of fitness is required for all marine operations. You will also be an effective communicator, ensuring practices and processes are adhered to at all times.
