Reporting to an innovative Finance Manager, working in a supportive team led by a seasoned CFO, this role will utilise not only your technical proficiency, but also continue to build on your relationship management capability.  

As the Group Accountant, you will work closely with the Port Nelson’s divisional teams – liaising with the Senior Management Team and Business Area Managers, allowing you to have impact, add value, and establish a strong personal brand.  

You will lead the Group’s financial reporting function, overseeing the consolidation of the Port Nelson Group and its parent company, Infrastructure Holdings.

In addition, you will provide support and guidance to the transactional finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career and grow into a broader leadership role.

The Role

  • Own the financial reporting, tax, compliance and monthly reporting cycles
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements and manage the external audit process
  • Coordinate intercompany transactions and support the treasury function
  • Play a key role in managing finance systems to improve efficiency, maintain effective controls, and provide user advice to wider team
  • Analysis and reporting for capital projects, and assisting with financial modelling, cashflow management and monitoring non-financial measures
  • Provide support and guidance to the transactional finance team, maintaining the general ledger and producing high quality information and reports
  • Assist and contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives business wide

Your Profile

  • Live in Nelson or be actively looking to relocate
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience, in commercial or practice setting
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Developed interpersonal skills and the ability to translate financial information to non-financial people
  • Strong systems user and experience in identifying business improvement opportunities
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills with the ability to analyse and present complex data clearly
  • An operational focus, analytical mindset, and drive for results
