Are you the person who can keep five things moving, spot the small details, and stay calm when priorities change? If you’re a recent graduate, early-career administrator, or someone with strong admin experience looking for a practical foot in the door to events and communications, this could be the role for you.

  • Build real-world events, communications and administration experience in a busy port environment
  • A varied support role where prioritising multiple tasks, deadlines and people is part of every day
  • Ideal for a recent graduate or experienced administrator wanting to grow into events and communications

About the Role

Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager, this role provides practical support across events, communications and day-to-day administration. A large part of the role is helping to keep things on track: maintaining task lists, following up actions, organising information, supporting deadlines and making sure the right people have what they need at the right time.

You'll be involved in a broad mix of work, with a strong focus on coordination and administration. This includes helping organise company and community events, tours, customer functions and internal activities, maintaining schedules and action lists, formatting documents, coordinating information, updating communication channels, supporting social media administration and providing reliable administrative support across the business.

About You

You don’t need to arrive as an events or communications specialist. What matters most is that you are organised, reliable, detail-focused and comfortable managing several priorities at once. You may be a recent graduate ready to apply your skills in a real workplace, or you may already have administration, office coordination, customer service or project support experience and be looking for a pathway into events and communications.

To do well in this role, you’ll need to be someone who can keep routine tasks moving while also responding to new requests, event deadlines and last-minute changes. You’ll be confident using Microsoft 365, have a high standard of written English, and know when to ask questions, clarify priorities or raise risks early.

You'll bring a practical, can-do approach, strong follow-through and a genuine enjoyment of keeping things organised. You'll build positive working relationships across Port Nelson and demonstrate our ASPIRE values: Accountability, Safety, Passion, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
